Teacher Education Professor joins students at Women’s Equality march

Brenda Betts, Ph.D., Professor in the Department of Teacher Education, joined CSU Stanislaus graduate student Jane Rodgers and credential student Elaine Hildebrand to march with hundreds of women, men, and youth in the August 23 Women's Equality Day Parade and Rally in Sacramento.

Led to the Capitol by three people on horseback, many participants wore costumes, buttons, and carried banners to show their support for women's equality. After the parade and rally, participants watched a preview of the new film “Engage Her” about why many women in minority communities do not vote. The parade and rally were sponsored by the National Women's History Project in Santa Rosa. Information, books, films, resources, and teaching materials about the contributions and achievements of women are available on the Web site at www.nwhp.org.
