Welcome. This page will always be under construction, so please bear with me and watch your head.

I earned my MA and PhD at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in English (concentration in Rhetoric and Composition) and now I am Director of Composition at Cal. State Stanislaus . I've been teaching rhetoric and writing for about 12 years.

My classes generally include undergraduate composition and graduate classes in rhetoric and/or teaching composition. I'm interested in teaching courses that explore rhetoric and issues of identity: gender, race/ethnicity, class,especially online. I also teach  non-western rhetoric and am working on a course in digital rhetoric; I feel it is especially important to teach graduate students, future teachers, about these topics.

My research interests include transnational literacies, comparative (and contrastive) rhetoric, new/digital media, online communities, and identity studies. My past research has been Multiple Intelligence theory and on the Chinese educational system.

Most recently I've started a new research project on cultural and educational institutions that focus on new/digital media and have started a series of interviews and site visits to learn about how these organizations work.

On the classes page you'll find a link to specific pages and to class wikis, if the class in question uses one. My office is L-195N, which is in the Library Building; always call or email first if you hope to find me outside of my office hours.

Mostly for my own benefit, I'm including a lot of links that I use a lot on this page.

I also have a research blog Else-If-Then, and I welcome any comments or questions. It covers my thoughts on my work and also has my notes on the conferences and other events I'm attending (mostly post-event) and updates on the projects and grants I'm working on. During the school year, probably it will have some comments on my classes as well, if they seem relevant!

I have a MySpace page now. ;P Right Here And I'm quite active in Facebook, but I only add friends who I actually know.
