Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
is a federal grant for undergraduate students with financial need. In order to be eligible for this grant, a student must be Pell eligible and meet all of the following requirements: Enrolled full-time in the first or second academic year of the program of study at a two or four year degree granting institution, have completed a rigorous secondary school (high school) program of study (after January 1, 2006 for first year students and after January 1, 2005 for second year students), for first year students, have not been previously enrolled in an undergraduate program, and for a second year student, have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4. Scale for first academic year. The award is $750 for 1st year recipients and $1300 for 2nd year recipients. |

Cal-Grants
Cal-Grants are need-based grants provided by the State for California residents. Renewal applicants must only file a FAFSA and list the school they intend to enroll in. Transfer students must contact the California Student Aid Commission to transfer their Cal-grant award to the enrolled school. New Cal-Grant applicants MUST also provide to the California Student Aid Commission, which administers Cal-Grants, a GPA Verification form by March 2. |

Cal-Grants TCP (Teacher Credential Program)
Cal-Grant TCP is for students who were Cal-Grant A or B recipients as undergraduates and plan to enroll in a Teaching Credential Program. Eligible students are required to have a Bachelors Degree, file a FAFSA for the academic year for which they plan to receive benefits, and complete a Request for Cal-Grant TCP Benefits form (G-44). Eligible recipients should apply for TCP benefits after receiving their bachelors degree and after being formally admitted to the teaching credential program. |

Child Development Grant
The Child Development Grant Program is administered by the California Student Aid Commission. The program is designed for students who are attending California public or private, two-year or four-year, post secondary educational institutions, and pursuing a permit to teach or supervise in the field of child care and development. Awards range from $1,000 to $2000 each academic year. |

CSU Graduate Equity Fellowship
These fellowships range from $500 to $2500. Students must file the financial aid application before the March 2 deadline and demonstrate need.Complete a CSUS scholarship application, be admitted to the University and to a graduate degree program (i.e., be classified or conditionally classified), be a California resident for fee purposes, and maintain satisfactory academic progress with at least a 3.0 grade point average. |

Educational Opportunity Program Grant (EOPG)
This program provides funding to a limited number of full-time undergraduate students who are admitted through the University Educational Opportunity Program. Federal Family Stafford Loan Programs
These are low-interest fixed 6.8% loans made to the student by a participating lender to help you with the cost of your education.

- There are two kinds of Stafford Loans: The Subsidized Student Loan is based on financial need and the government pays the interest on this loan while you are in school. The Unsubsidized Stafford Loan is not need-based. Students must pay the interest or capitalize interest while they are in school.
- The money for these loans is borrowed from banks, credit unions, etc. Students generally begin repayment 6 months after they leave school or drop below half-time status. Under some conditions, repayment may be deferred.
- To apply for the Stafford Loan(s), you must submit a Federal Student Loan Request Form.pdf. New borrowers at California State University, Stanislaus MUST complete a Loan Counseling session, choose a lender, and e-sign a Master Promissory Note. Go to "Apply for a loan".

- Disbursement of these funds is in two equal amounts in accordance with federal program requirements. The lender will provide a disclosure statement which indicates approximate dates of disbursement. Loan checks will be mailed, or directly deposited into your bank account.

**Independent students, and dependent students whose parents cannot obtain a PLUS loan, may borrow additional loan funds from the Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. They may borrow the following additional amounts:

National Science and Math Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)
is a federal grant for undergraduate students with financial need. In order to be eligible for this grant, a student must be Pell Grant eligible and meet all of the following requirements: Enrolled full-time in a degree program, an United States citizen, enrolled in a four year degree granting institution, Major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology or a critical foreign language, and have at least a cumulative 3.0 quarterly GPA and a 4.0 scale. The maximum award is $4000. A student must be enrolled in the courses necessary to complete the degree program and to fulfill the requirements of the intended eligible major. A student can only receive payment if enrolled in at least one course that meets specific requirements of the eligible major. |

Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Parents of dependent undergraduate students (with a good credit history) may receive PLUS loans. PLUS loan eligibility is not based on financial need. A parent may borrow the entire cost of attendance minus any other financial aid. These loans are administered regardless of income level. Parents may borrow these funds from banks, savings and loans, credit unions, etc.
The interest rate is 8.5%. Generally, PLUS repayment starts 30-60 days after disbursement. Apply now. |

Pell Grant
Pell Grants are need-based and awarded to help undergraduate students pay for their educations. For many students, Pell Grant is the foundation of their award packages to which aid from other sources may be added. Awards range from $400 to $4310. |

Perkins Loan
Loans are available to eligible undergraduate or graduate students. This is a low-interest (5%) loan to help pay for the cost of education. Depending on your financial need, the availability of the Perkins funds, and the amount of other aid you receive you may borrow up to $4,000 per undergraduate or $6,000 per graduate school year. Repayment begins 9 months after a person graduates or enrollment drops below half-time status. The total repayment may extend up to 10 years. |

Scholarships
Scholarship funds are provided and administered by a variety of sources both on-campus and off-campus. Due to the large number of programs and requirements involved, specific payment dates are not always predictable. Your disbursement schedule shows approximate amounts for each academic term. When funds are received and requirements are met on a timely basis, scholarship checks are made available the week before the Fall and/or Spring Semester, or the first day of Winter Term. Short-Term Loans & Conditions
These funds are available to all registered students to help meet emergency educational and living expenses. Some restrictions are applied to loan amounts. Applications for the Short-Term Loan Program are available in the Financial Aid office.
Conditions listed below are the conditions of the Short-Term Loan Program. Please read carefully.
- Applicants must be registered students in order to apply for a short-term loan.
- Requests should be to meet emergency or unexpected school related expenses.
- There is a service charge of $5.00 (Five Dollars) per loan. Loan requests shall not exceed $200.00 (Two Hundred Dollars). Exceptions to this limit will be considered on a case by case basis, but will add 3-5 days to the loan processing time.
- No loans will be processed during Winter Term or Summer sessions.
- No student will be allowed two concurrent short-term loans, nor more than one per semester or two per year.
- If it is necessary to request an extension of the repayment, you must come in PRIOR to the due date. Failure to do so could result in the denial of further loans. If justifiable, one extension per year may be allowed, not to exceed the end of the present term. A late fee of $20.00 (Twenty Dollars) will be added when repayment is not made by the stipulated due date. You will be considered in default once the due date is passed, and your loan may be turned over to a collection agency.
- Students whose loans reach thirty days past due will not be eligible for further loans.
- University services (registration, transcripts, etc.) will be withheld from any student who has an unpaid financial obligation. In addition, if you withdraw from school your loan will be due immediately.
- All outstanding short-term loans will automatically be deducted from financial aid pay-outs.
- Applicants must have a firm and realistic repayment source.
- Processing of a loan will take from 5 to 7 working days. Once processed, the check will be available after 3:00 PM at the Cashiers Office.
- You may pick up and repay your short-term loan at the Cashiers Office, located in the Mary Stuart Rogers Gateway Building, Room #100. (map & location)
- Incomplete or illegible short-term loan applications will be denied.
- Loans need to be fully repaid within sixty days from the date of application or by the end of the semester, whichever comes first.

State University Grant (SUG)
The State University Grant is a need-based program designed to specifically help California State University students with paying fees. Candidates for this program must be California residents and be enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate program. Subject to available funding, students who meet the required eligibility criteria are awarded State University Grant funds. Awards range from $100 to $3514 per academic year. |

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a federally funded program established to provide assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate a high financial need. Awards may range from $200 to $2000 per academic year. The average award is usually $1000 or less due to the availability of SEOG funds. |
