Purpose of the Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Scholarship Program at CSU Stanislaus is to provide monetary support and public recognition to students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Individual scholarship awards range from $100 to $5,000 per academic year, with the average award being $1000.

Types of Scholarships Available
Scholarships may be funded by private donations, donations from business organizations, or scholarship endowment accounts.
  • Recruiting Scholarships:
Scholarships for entering freshmen and transferring community college students only.
  • Department Scholarships:
Scholarships for students majoring in a specific major.
  • Open Scholarships:
Unrestricted scholarships open to all majors.
Who May Apply
Any Admitted & registered student attending CSU Stanislaus full-time beginning Fall can apply for scholarship consideration. Some scholarships allow less than full-time enrollment as noted in the criteria. Full-time enrollment is considered to be at least 10 units for an undergraduate student, and at least 7 units for a classified graduate (in a graduate program). Except for entering freshmen, students must have a declared major.

Eligibility Criteria
Most scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and full-time enrollment. Some scholarships may require a higher GPA as noted in their criteria. For incoming high school graduates, SAT scores are also used in determining scholarship eligibility. Some scholarships are based on financial need. Determination of financial need requires completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year. Ineligibility for Federal and/or State aid does not discount your eligibility for other scholarships.

Students should also be aware of additional eligibility criteria required by scholarship donors. Additional criteria may include evidence of school and community involvement, academic or career interests, personal or family history (e.g., first family member to attend college), or affiliation with a civic or fraternal association or organization (provide proof of club affiliation).

Your Responsibilities as a Scholarship Recipient
  • Please note – the receipt of on-campus or off-campus scholarships may, in some cases, reduce your eligibility for other need-based aid or student loans.
  • Be sure to acknowledge your award within a month of the date on your scholarship award letter. If you are unable to accept your award, or if your enrollment status should change, respond to the Financial Aid/Scholarship Office as soon as possible (space is provided on the award letter).
  • Be sure to keep a copy of your award letter for your records.
  • If you are renewing a scholarship for the upcoming academic year, be sure to fill out a new application including all supporting documents.
  • Be sure to send a thank you note! Many of our scholarships are provided by private donors who take an interest in supporting our students. Without the support of these donors, many students would not be able to reach their educational goals. It is common courtesy to respond with a short note of thanks. An address to send your thank-you note will be provided on your scholarship award letter.
