The Stanislaus Wind Ensemble, one of the two premier performing instrumental ensembles at the University, strives to present a great variety of music, both in style and period, including standard wind repertoire as well as newly commissioned works. The Wind Ensemble has gained wide recognition for its diverse and creative programs presented through committed, outstanding performances, which have been featured at California Music Educators' Association conferences, the College Band Directors' National Association Conference, and other venues throughout California and abroad. The wind ensemble will be performing at the 2002 CBDNA Regional Conference in Reno this March, a program that will feature the premiere of a new work composed specifically for that concert. This premiere is the first of several over the next few seasons, showcasing the ensemble's commitment to playing quality music of our time.
