Master of Arts in Education
(Emphasis in School Administration)


 

This is a very exciting and challenging time in education. A critical need exists for new school administrators who are qualified to lead a new generation of educators who are committed to quality education. As a means to this end, the articulation, orchestration, and facilitation of significant school reform will provide many rewarding experiences to future administrators.

California State University, Stanislaus offers a nationally recognized program in professional graduate level study leading to the Master of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision. In addition, the course work required for a MA in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision leads to a Preliminary or Professional Administrative Services Credential, which allows a graduate to serve in any administrative capacity in education.

School Administration faculty are committed to preparing wise, scholarly, compassionate, and ethical educational leaders. Each course in the graduate School Administrative program at CSU, Stanislaus offers not only practical and theoretical methods of school management, but also the highest ethical principles. Graduates are expected to serve as models of leadership in the schools of the future.

Faculty members are extremely proud of the accomplishments of past graduates and feel a special pride and satisfaction in the large number of these persons who are holding significant positions. Faculty members wish to continue this tradition by having candidates who possess the personal qualities and leadership potential to pursue graduate course work in School Administration at CSU, Stanislaus.

 

Curriculum

Enrollment in the Masters Program in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision requires the following Foundation Courses (9 units) which may be taken before, during, or after the completion of the Preliminary Program Courses. All courses are offered on the Turlock campus (667-3364) and at the Regional Center in Stockton (467-5300).

EDGS 5510 Introduction to Educational Research (3 units)

EDGS 5600 Introduction to Qualitative Research in Education (3 units)

EDGS 5610 Introduction to Quantitative Research in Education (3 units)

EDGS 5960 Project (up to 3 units) OR EDGS 5990 Thesis (up to 3 units)

NOTE: Students can ONLY register for EDGS 5960/5990 by submitting an "add form,"
which is available from the Department of Advanced Studies

 

Accreditation

 

The MA program which includes the credential course work is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
