For Recent Graduates
|
Priority is given to recent graduates. Definition: Those who graduated fewer than three years ago. For example, if the official graduation date on your college record and transcript is May 2005 and today’s date is February 2008, you graduated fewer than three years ago.
Fee: free of charge.
Services available:
- Participate in the annual Career Fair scheduled for each April from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Meet recruiting employers to learn about internship and employment opportunities. Some will conduct interviews on the spot.
- Search the online CareerTRAK system for job listings, and submit a résumé and cover letter directly to companies and organizations.
- Access information packets on résumé and cover letter writing, networking, and interviewing from our website.
- Access various internet resources including links to job listing sites, graduate school, and other resources.
- Sign up to become an alumni career mentor for current students and fellow graduates. Once you sign up, students will be able to search the Alumni Career Network database to identify alumni currently employed in their field of interest. You, as the mentor, determine the level of contact, mentoring, and time commitment you are willing to provide students who request an informational interview, networking opportunities, advice, or information about your field.
- Visit the Career Library and use career exploration resources, industry directories, résumé and cover letter guides, and computers with Internet access. Call the Career Services Center at (209) 667-3661 for hours of operation.
- Review our Referral List of career counselors and consultants. Many resources operate on a fee-for-service basis. Stop by the Career Services Center to review this list.
- Schedule up to three one-hour appointments with Career Counseling staff members per academic year. During these appointments you may obtain information, plan a job search strategy, practice interview techniques, have your résumé critiqued, or address other career-related concerns. Counseling appointments are scheduled based on availability, with priority given to currently enrolled students.
- Ask for a referral to access another CSU campus’s Career Services Center. Restrictions may apply on the campus you choose to visit, and the referral identification card is not valid at any institution outside of the 23-campus CSU system.
