STEP 1
The hiring area completes the Student Employment Services Form 101 (available online on the Student Employment Services page of the Career Services Center website) and sends it to the Career Services Center, where the job will be posted on MonsterTRAK online and in the On-Campus job binder.  The appropriate department head’s approval signature must be on this form.
Note: if this is a Unit 11 job posting, it must be identified as such on Form 101.
STEP 2
Students will review job openings and apply directly to the hiring area.
STEP 3
The hiring area will collect required materials (application, resume, and references) from applicants.  Note:  the job announcement must be posted for a minimum of five (5) working days before the final selection process may begin in the hiring area.  Please call the Director of Career Services (x3073) if you have questions about the posting period.
STEP 4
The hiring area selects a student to fill the position and completes Section A of the Student Employment Services Form 105. Form 105 is available online on the Student Employment Services page of the Career Services Center website. If this is a Unit 11 job posting, the hiring area will use Form 105-R11, which is returned to Faculty Affairs. Form 105-R11 is only available in the Career Services Center.
STEP 5
The hiring area instructs the selected student to deliver the completed Form 105 to the Career Services Center for view and signature. The student with Form 105 will then proceed to the Payroll Office with the following forms:  (1) Form 105, (2) Student Payroll Action Request (BM 55), (3) Employment Eligibility Certification (BM 52, INS Form I-9), and (4) A Statement Concerning Your Employment in a Job not Covered by Social Security (CSU Form SSA-1945).  Students with Form 105-R11 may proceed directly to the Faculty Affairs office with the forms mentioned above. The student should be prepared to show identification as proof of employment eligibility.
STEP 6
The Career Services Center matches the Form 105 to the posted job, signs off, and removes the job posting online and from the on-campus job binder.
STEP 7
The Payroll Office processes the forms and forwards copies to the appropriate hiring area and to the Career Services Center.

Rehired Student Assistants
If a Student Assistant is rehired for the next academic year, the following conditions must be met:
  1. The job has not changed from the original posting (last academic year), including the number of openings.
  2. The student being hired must have worked during the previous academic year and not have had any breaks in employment since being hired in the last academic year.
  3. The hiring area has verified student enrollment status by I.D. card. Students enrolled in Extended Education courses only do not qualify for student employment.
If these conditions are met, Form 105-REHIRE is to be completed and delivered to the Career Services Center to verify that the job was posted the past academic year. Form 105-REHIRE is available on the Student Employment Services page of the Career Services Center website, or in the Career Services Center.

Note: Students hired under Unit 11 may not be rehired using this form. Steps 1 – 7 are to be followed.
