Welcome to the Career Services Center website for Families!
You are the most critical support system for students and we are here to offer information and encouragement as, together, we help your student transition through the education process and prepare for a career. We know that families, like students, want to be informed, encouraged, and connected to their University.

We encourage parents, especially, to accompany their student to visit the Career Services Center, located in the Mary Stuart Rogers Building, second floor, Suite 245 (See Contact Information for maps). Our annual fall Welcome Back to Campus Open House in September is a good opportunity to visit the Center, tour the facilities, and meet the staff. You are cordially invited to attend the Open House. The date will be posted annually on the Career Services Center events calendar. You are also welcome to visit the Career Services Center with your student as they meet with a career counselor, to help you be aware of the options available to your student as they explore potential careers. Here are other suggestions:

Visit the Student's webpage to check out the resources and tools available to your student, including workshops to help them explore a variety of career-related topics.

Encourage your student to visit the Career Services Center early, starting in their freshman year, to start planning for success before graduation. We provide a timeline to help them plan for success.

Explore with your student whether they want to work on campus around their class schedule. Student Employment Services are available to your student through the Career Services Center. We post part-time employment opportunities, for both on and off-campus work.

Review the Learning Outcomes on our website, designed to support the academic training received in the classroom, and to contribute to the total learning experience of your student. The Career Services Center is organized and staffed to support co-curricular education growth. Your student will learn how to develop a career plan and occupational options through utilizing individual career counseling services at the Career Services Center, attending one or more workshops on specific career development topics offered throughout the academic year, and completing a resume appropriate for seeking employment following graduation. Your student will also learn to seek appropriate resources through exploring the Career Services Center website to collect data and identify options, investigating resource links, reviewing periodicals, books, videos, and occupational materials in the resource library.

Consider serving on our Career Advisory Council as a parent participant. The Career Advisory Council meets twice a year to review and evaluate the concluding year’s activities and provide advice to improve service delivery for the coming academic year.
