Course Title:  Playwriting/Screenwriting     

 

Units:  Four

 

Description:  (Formerly Script Writing) This workshop-style class introduces students to the fundamentals of writing for stage and screen.  Through writing exercises and discussion, we will learn about such elements as dramatic construction, character development, conflict, theme, and setting. The class covers one-act and full-length plays, as well as 30- and 60-minute TV shows, and feature films, all of which -- either in part or entirely -- we will screen and critique.  May be repeated once for credit.

 

Requirements:  A short play, a short screenplay, and a longer play/script of the student’s choosing.
