Starting November 21st , 2005 every registered student is being assigned a *NEW* STANMail email address. University communications will be distributed to you primarily on your STANMail account. You will need to access this frequently to stay apprised of critical information. It is also used as your email address in Blackboard. If any of your courses use Blackboard, email communications will be sent to your STANMail address.
1. Go to the CSU
Stanislaus Web site
– www.csustan.edu
2. Click on Students - Current
3. Under Enrollment Services click on Student Records.
4. Type your University ID (example: 980XXXXXX)
5. Type your PIN Number (six digits – by default it is your birth date)
Example: January 1, 1980 would be 010180
6. Click the Login button
Note:
(If you are unable to login call Enrollment Services at 667-3152)
7. Click on Personal Information
8. Click on View Email Address.
Your university Email address will be under the title STANMAIL.
Your *NEW* email address as of November 21, 2005 will be a
combination of the first letter of your first name and your last name
@csustan.edu. Example: John Doe
has a common name, since there might be another John Doe or even a Jane or Jack
Doe his email address is jdoe3@csustan.edu

3. Under Campus Resources locate the E-Mail section and click on STAN WebMail
a. The URL if you want to go directly to the site is http://webmail.csustan.edu
4. Type your email username. Your username is everything before the @ sign in your email address, EXCLUDE @csustan.edu.
Example: John Doe’s email address is jdoe3@csustan.edu so
his username would be just jdoe3
5. Type your email password. Your initial email password is your University ID # (980XXXXXX). Your initial email password is different then your PIN used for enrollment services.
6. Click the Login button. Note that any Pop-Up Blocking program needs to be either shut off or set up to allow pop ups from webmail.csustan.edu. If you have multiple Pop Up Blockers they will all need to be set up.
NOTE: Some older computers or older web
browsers are not compatible with the Advanced Interface and must use the Simple
Interface.
· The mail you had in your Toto/Athena account is still on that server. You can still access that account using the username and password you were using to login for that account.
o The Athena website is still: http://athena.csustan.edu
o You must use your Toto/Athena account information to login to this site NOT your new STAN WebMail account information!
· All new messages sent to your Toto email address is being forwarded to your new STAN WebMail account.
· Your Toto/Athena account will be available until December 1, 2006. The website to access your account is http://athena.csustan.edu
· If there are messages you wish to save in your Toto/Athena account; simply forward the actual messages you wish to save to your STAN WebMail account or to any other account you would like.
· All emails sent to your Toto/Athena email address are being forwarded to your new STAN WebMail address.
· Any email forwards set up on Toto/Athena did not roll over to the new STAN WebMail system.
· This FAQ contains the instructions on how to set up an email forward in the STAN WebMail system.

6. Type your email password into the old pass field. Your initial email password is different then your PIN used for enrollment services. Your initial email password is your university ID#
7. Type your new password in the new pass field and then verify it by typing it again into the verify pass field.
8. You can set up a password reminder question by typing in a question that will remind you of your password in case you forget.
9. Click Update Password.
1. If you never changed your password on STANMail, the default password is your University ID number, NOT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!
2. If you did change your password and set up a password reminder question do the following:
a. Click on Change Password link at the bottom of the @Mail page.
b. Under Password Utility, type your username into the text field.
c. Click the Get Password Hint Button
d. A dialog box should appear on the screen with your reminder.

The University is not responsible for handling of e-mail by outside vendors or unofficial servers. Privacy of confidential information may be compromised by forwarding mail from an official e-mail account.

1.1 Click Preferences at the top of the mail screen to access the preferences menu.
1.2 Select Account Preferences from the menu.
1.3 Click on the Mail Settings tab at the top of the window.
1.4 In the Forward to Address field, enter the email address you wish to have your new STANMail messages forwarded to. Be sure it is entered correctly!
1.5 Click the Save Settings Button to apply the changes.
Using the Simple Interface:
1.1 Click the Settings link at the top of the page.
1.2 Locate the Email Diversion section at the bottom of the page.

· By default, webmail empties the trash upon logging out. You can change that by following these steps:
1. Login to your STAN/Webmail account through the website http://webmail.csustan.edu
2. Locate your folder list on the left. Click Email Settings located under the Utilities folder.
3. Under the WebMail Preferences tab, uncheck the Delete Trash on Logout option.
4. Click Save Settings at the bottom of that page.
· Asherah is the proper name of the server that your email account is stored.
· All mail sent out through the webmail system is changed from @asherah.csustan.edu to just @csustan.edu.
· Recipients of your emails will never see your username@asherah.csustan.edu, only your username@csustan.edu
· When giving out your email address you only need to give out your username@csustan.edu
· This new email system now checks all incoming emails against an updated list of recently known Spam and Viruses. If the message is a known Spam message it will place a Spam Rating in the subject line. If the email contains a virus, the system will place PMX:VIRUS in the subject and will remove the harmful attachment from the message.
· There is an option in the webmail to have spam messages bounced back to the sender. DO NOT SELECT THIS OPTION! This will only set you up to receive more spam by alerting them you have an active email account.
· The spam that comes into your mailbox should be marked with a Spam Rating.
· You can set a subject filter to automatically move the messages to the Trash with key words in the subject, such as Spam Rating.
1. Login to your STAN/Webmail account through the website http://webmail.csustan.edu
2. You will need to access your folder options:
2.1 If logging into the simple user interface click Folders on the top of the page
2.2 If logging into the advanced user interface click on the Tools Menu at the top of the screen and select Folder Manager.
3. Locate at the bottom of the screen the Email to Folder Sorting section.
4. Enter the term which you wish to filter for into the Email Subject field, then select which folder you would like it to be moved to from the drop down list, now click the Add Email Sort button.
4.1 To send messages with Spam Rating in the subject to the Trash, enter Spam Rating into the field Email Subject field, select Trash from the drop down menu and click Add Email Sort.
4.2 To send messages with PMX:VIRUS in the subject to the Trash, enter PMX into the field Email Subject field, select Trash from the drop down menu and click Add Email Sort.
